Stuck
Is it just me, or does it seem that we're all slowing down in our blog posting? For me, I guess, it's just that I don't feel like my life is very interesting at the moment.

So, to jumpstart things a bit, here's a meme from Monday Madness. Enjoy!

1. How long have you been blogging?
My first post was on May 12, 2005.

2. How many times have you taken a break from blogging?
I've never actually taken a break, which leads to the next question...

3. How long is the longest you've gone, so far, without posting on your blog?
I think I've gone about a week, maybe a bit more.

4. How many fellow bloggers do you keep in touch with, through your blogs, on a regular basis?
Let's see, a few of them I talk to on the IM on an almost daily basis. I read blogs every day.

5. Have you ever met, in person, a blogger on your blogroll?
Yes, I've met several of them!

6. How often do you update/change the 'extra' stuff on your blog?
I try to update the stuff on the sidebar at least monthly. I'm really looking to change my template again, but don't feel like dealing with the hassle of it at the moment :)

7. Do you think you'll be blogging for years to come?
I certainly hope so, well, if I can get past being stuck.....

Happy Friday!
I snagged this from Haggis. Although I think I took this test a while back, I like these results better!

Modern, Cool Nerd
78 % Nerd, 52% Geek, 39% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Nerd and Geek, earning you the title of: Modern, Cool Nerd.

Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one up there, winning the million bucks)!

Congratulations!

Also, you might want to check out some of my other tests if you're interested in any of the following:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Professional Wrestling

Love & Sexuality

America/Politics

Thanks Again! -- THE NERD? GEEK? OR DORK? TEST

Weekend Adventures, and Flippy Hair not on Purpose
Hi everyone!

Once again, Blogger is being a brat regarding the uploading of photos! I've been trying for over an hour to get these up, to no avail. I'll try again a little later, but until then, check out my flickr account, where the SECOND three photos go along with my post. The first three are of today's lunch. Yum!

Seems that the weekend hiatus did me a world of good! Not much was accomplished, though, this weekend, unlike my girl Poppy. We watched the last part of the Smallville disc we had out from Blockbuster Online, as well as Casablanca, went to IKEA to visit the couch that will soon be ours(in red,) and did the obligatory laundry. I also bought a new pair of shoes that I found on sale. They're black slingbacks with a 2" stacked heel, made by Rampage.

I've also been trying a meat-free way of eating lately. Aside from dinner last night, I've gone five days without eating meat, and I'm thinking of trying to work it into my diet on a more frequent basis. So, if any of you have any recipe suggestions, fire away! (I know Bearette will have some!)

In weather-related news, we got a mother of a thunderstorm early Saturday morning, in which it rained and stormed so heavily there were leaves and branches strewn everywhere and our electricity went out for a couple of hours. It was GREAT! Our grass was so happy, and when we were out yesterday in the drizzle, all of the birds who've suffered so badly this summer were lolling about in the grass, looking for worms and the like.

But my hair isn't happy with the extra moisture in the air.

Case in point--the flip.

I don't want my hair to flip. Well, I like the occasionally flippy style, but I especially do NOT like it when only one piece decides to rebel and be all defiant-like. No amount of round-brushing helps. Oh, and it's flat, too, which I don't like, either. At least it's shiny, though. :) Which is another thing! I like my hair to be shiny. Not my face. What's up with that?

Work is rolling right along. Our product launch has been pushed back to the end of October, which gives me a little more time to get things together, but I'm TRYING to stay on track.

In some wonderful news, my boss and his wife welcomed their second baby into their family last Wednesday--another boy.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot! DH, weekend before last, became the proud owner of a new toy: a 32" LCD HDTV. Now he's playing video games the way they were meant to be played. Initially, I wasn't pleased with the purchase, but he'd sold a rifle to cover it, and we've been watching DVDs on it and I have to say, the picture quality is phenomenal. We're currently in negotiations for a 37" for the family room. :)

All right, no more lollygagging around. Gotta get some more work done!

Thursday Thirteen
1. My wrist hurts especially badly today.
2. I injured it in a freak badminton accident in college.
3. Ok, it wasn't a freak badminton accident--I slipped and fell on it while playing badminton.
4. Yes, I'm a big nerd. But you all knew that already. So stop laughing at me!
5. It's my right wrist, so typing (and just about everything else, since it's my dominant hand) is kind of painful.
6. I have a brace for it, but it inhibits said typing and everything else, so I try to go as long as possible without wearing it.
7. I think I'm going to have to put it on earlier than usual today.
8. So now I look like a nerd, instead of the nerdiness being tucked away inside my brain.
9. I haven't felt particularly inspired lately, hence the lack of entries.
10. I apologize, dear readers. I don't want to feel like I'm letting you down.
11. But I'm just feeling a little out of sorts.
12. Maybe I'll feel better after the weekend...
13. I will be back soon! :)

Book Meme
Shamelessly stolen from Merrie. Mucho gusto!

Total number of books owned:
Sheesh. What a question to ask a bibliophile! Here's an approximate number of books that our household owns--I have been checking out a lot of books from the library lately, though.

The books in these bookcases are divided into paperbacks and hardbacks, and arranged in alphabetical order according to genre. If I knew the Dewey Decimal System, they'd be arranged that way. How much of a dork am I??

Last book bought:
Taking Charge of Your Fertility at B&N last night. Hey, we've been trying for 8 months....doesn't hurt to be informed!

Last book read:
I finished Chatter of the Maidens by Alys Clare night before last. Part of yet another medieval mystery series. Love love love it!

Five books that mean a lot to you:
ONLY FIVE?!?!?!? Once again, asking a bibliophile to choose five influential books is nearly impossible. But I'll try....

The Little House series--I credit this series with turning me on to reading. I think I was about 7 when I got the first book as a birthday gift.

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress--DH recommended this to me, and I discovered a love for sci-fi I didn't know I had.

Bridget Jones' Diary--My first foray into [modern] chick-lit!

Pride and Prejudice--The original chick-lit masterpiece.

The Thorn Birds--There's something about this book that keeps me coming back to read it over and over again. I can't explain it...

Meet Lila
After a relatively short period of time (less than two weeks,) I sold my little black sports car! I listed it on Auto Trader, and less than a week later got a lead from a guy who'd wrecked his girlfriend's Jeep and she really wanted a Tiburon. So, after all of the insurance company brouhaha, they got a check and decided to buy Vanessa (which was the name of my car)! The crazy thing?? They live in San Angelo, Texas, which is about a 5 hour drive from here! So, on Sunday, they drove up to my house and left with my car and I got a cashier's check. They paid asking price, which was great, because I made about a $1300 profit!

I was a little sad, seeing Vanessa leave, but it was time to let her go. We need a 4-door car, for the future baby seat and for the trunk space! And I know that Vanessa will be going to a good home--the girl who bought her was jumping up and down and smiling from ear to ear when she saw the car in person.

So, without further ado, I present my new automobile, Lila. She is a 2005 Mazda6, and I bought her on Saturday. I'm already loving her--she drives really well, has quite a bit of pep, and her trunk is HUGE!!! Sorry the pic isn't the best quality--I took it a few minutes ago at work! :)
