Letting it all Hang Out, or TMI post #7423
This evening, my friends, I am blogging to you from the kitchen table, in my nighttime attire. Which, truthfully, is not much. More on that later...

I just took a Vicodin and a muscle relaxer because not a whole lot has changed since my wonderful little car accident--the good news is that the pain is no longer shooting down my arm and out of my fingertips, but a dull achy pain has camped out in the joint area where the leg bone meets the hip bone. Lovely. Physical therapy has been helping somewhat, but the advent of this leg problem has had my physical therapist bending my leg into positions my husband should only be attempting. Hey, honey.......

So, before my glorious pills kick in and start working their magic, I thought I'd pose a question to all of you, but mainly focused towards the lovely ladies:

"Do you share everything with your partner, or do you believe a little mystery is integral to the relationship?"

The reason I'm asking this is because I heard a woman on the radio some time ago say that she'd been married to her husband for well over 10 years and he had never seen her naked.

That shocked the hell out of me, I tell you. Ten years and her husband had never seen her naked? The first question that popped into my head was, "How do they do "it"?" Yes, I'm sick like that.

In this house, the minute I walk in the door, the clothes come off. Even though most nights I end up in a tank top and undies, I have never been shy around DH when I'm in the buff.

It wasn't always this way, though. In previous relationships I wasn't nearly as comfortable with my body, but for some reason, when I got with DH, something clicked.

It could be because, the first time we shared, uh, special time, if you get my drift, he broke wind in a very BIG way.

Ha....the look on his face was priceless. And that, my friends, was when I knew I'd marry him.

Not really. But it broke the ice, so to speak. The only thing that I can't do with him in the room is go #2, because some things at least should be sacred. Everything else, however, is fair game.

Now, I realize that this may be shocking to some of you. That to parade yourself in front of your partner naked, or without makeup, or, god forbid, fart in front of him is unthinkable, but I find it rather comforting, actually. Because if you are going to be with someone for years and years and years, it would really start to hurt, holding in all that gas.

Might as well get it out in the open. You would feel better and might even get a laugh out of it.

Then again, you might not. Everyone is different, but like I said, when you're with someone for years and years, some things tend to come out.

Ahem, pardon the pun.

And now, my pills have started to kick in, so I must bid you good night.

Blogoversary: The Second
Holy merde, I can't believe that I let my blogoversary pass by without even acknowledging it!

So, I'm wishing my blog a very happy, belated blogoversary!

I staked out my corner of the Internet on May 12, 2005--well, I actually signed up for it in March, but my first post was in May--and along the way have met some truly amazing people, and despite my lack of posts during this part of 2007, I truly enjoy my little space.

Let's review some of the things that have happened in my life since the first blogoversary:

I was sitting here wondering what the hell I have done this past year, and that list shows that I experienced quite a lot, actually! That's one thing I really enjoy about blogging--you have a record of what's going on in your life!

Some things are still being dealt with(decorating the house, dealing with the car accident, and determining how far we want to go in our quest for a biological baby,) but for the most part, I can say that I'm pretty satisfied with how things are turning out.

Here's to good friends, both physical and virtual. Thanks for stopping by to read my ramblings and leaving the occasional comment. I appreciate each and every one of you!

Please keep reading!! I have a couple of good posts brewing around that I'm going to have to share soon!

A Beautiful Day

This afternoon, DH, his parents, and I went to the Dallas Arboretum to check out the May Flowers exhibit. The day was absolutely gorgeous and I got some really great photos.

Check the rest of the photos out at flickr.

Just Because it Says "Conditioner" Doesn't Mean it's For Your Hair
This morning, I was washing my hair in the shower when I realized that I did not have a drop of conditioner left in the bottle. I thought about going without, but without conditioner, my hair is drier than my Mom's sense of humor.

About this time, DH comes into the bathroom to tell me bye and wish me a good day (he always gets a wet-from-the-shower kiss from me at this time, too,) so I asked him to look under my sink and see if I had a trial-sized Dove conditioner in there.

After a few seconds of digging, he produced a white bottle, said, "Here you go," and handed it to me. Mind you, I did not have my contacts in while I was showering, so I couldn't see a damn thing.

I held that white bottle to where I could see it, and saw that it was this:

The photo is super blurry (I took it at 7:30 this morning and didn't have time to play with it,) but what you're seeing is the After-Care cream for Sally Hansen's Creme Hair Remover for Face. After de-fuzzing, you use this to moisturize your skin. Except I usually use my regular moisturizer. But that's neither here nor there.

And yes, I use a depilatory on my face. I get blonde fuzz on my upper lip that needs periodic removal. I get it on my chin, too. Shut up.

Anyway, after a brief conversation with myself in my head as to whether or not I should try to put it in my hair and see what happened, I got out of the shower and trailed water all the way to the cabinet, where I dug out the trial-sized bottle of Dove conditioner I'd originally asked for.

Everything was fine after that, but I knew when this happened that I had to blog about it.

Happy Friday, everyone!

Some People....
[Getting On Soapbox]

Yesterday I was listening to my co-worker's radio, and the Emergency Broadcast System was activated.

When I was little, I remember asking my Mom what the Emergency Broadcast System was for, and she told me that it was "to warn us if the Russians were dropping a nuclear bomb on us." I don't know if that was true, but even now, I still get nervous when I hear it activated. Silly, I know. Thanks, Mom!

Anyway, I digress.

Nowadays, when the Emergency Broadcast System is activated, it is usually to notify the public of an Amber Alert, as was the case yesterday afternoon.

Apparently, two little girls were reported missing yesterday. The last time they were seen was on Friday night, when they went to the mall with their step-uncle. Because of his past behavior, it was believed that this step-uncle was very dangerous and the little girls could be in trouble.

How awful!

But, then I started thinking. For one thing, I heard this on Monday afternoon. These girls had been missing SINCE FRIDAY NIGHT. Why in the hell were you waiting until Monday to report these girls missing? And another thing--if this step-uncle's past behavior was so bad, why in the hell were the girls with him in the first place? If they were at the mall with him, then it seems to me that the parent or whoever the caregiver was let the girls go off with this step-uncle.

Luckily, the Amber Alert was cancelled later that day and the girls were safe. I'm still dumbfounded, though, that these little girls were with the step-uncle in the first place if his past behavior was so bad.

Okay, I'm finished now.

New Sheriff in Town?
Our Internet access was down all weekend again. Sonofabitch. This happens every f-ing weekend! I hate Time Warner Cable. Hey, you! Time Warner Cable! You can kiss my ass!

I have to say that having Haylie around this past week has been wonderful. She is such a sweetie--always ready to snuggle, which the boys never really want to do--yet she isn't above playing, either. All in all, I think we made a great choice in a new kitty.

I mean, just look at that face! You would think that little Miss Haylie is just the sweetest, most compliant thing, wouldn't you?

Ha! Think again!

Last night I was in our bedroom, folding laundry, when I heard a scuffle in the area outside the door. Looking up, I see Haylie and Kino, staring each other down.

Now, normally, Kino would charge whichever cat is daring to look him in the eye, and that would be the end of it. He is the alpha, after all. But wouldn't you know, Miss Haylie just kept on staring. And Kino, well, he started backing away.

I stood in the doorway, transfixed, while Haylie stared Kino down, while he kept backing away, reluctantly giving ground. She would let out these threatening little mews, as if to say, "Don't fuck with me, man, I lived on the streets!" And when he tried to turn away, she threw out her paw and slapped Kino hard on the ass.

I don't think he knew what hit him.

Yes, ladies and gents, it looks like there's a new pecking order in this house, and Kino isn't at the top of it anymore. It's really kind of funny, seeing him get beat up by a girl. I am just glad that he's getting some kind of comeuppance after beating on my poor Joey for the past 3 years.

Meet the Newest Member of Our Family
A couple of months ago, we had to make the difficult decision to let our Miss Annabelle go. As time passed, we found that we really missed having a female kitty around, and felt that Joey really needed to have a buddy. So, we started looking for a good-natured girl, older, not too rambunctious, in short, a laid-back kitty.

Meet Haylie. She is about 3 years old, and we're very happy to have her in the family. After a couple of days in our study, with the boys looking in at her and Haylie looking out, she was ready to come out of seclusion, and she's fitting in pretty well.

I know she looks pissed off in this picture, but she is really sweet, a perfect lap cat.

She also likes hidey-holes.....
