I Swear there's Something in the Water...
My work life has been extremely busy as of late. As I write this, four requests for proposals have come through the pipeline, and I just finished a proposal offering our services to a small town near Weatherford.

Let me tell you all about it.

I busted my ass trying to get the proposal finished, packed up, and shipped to reach the city by the deadline, but after checking the next day, discovered that Fed Ex wasn't guaranteeing delivery until 4:30 pm. The submission deadline was 2 pm. Frantic, I re-bound 9 proposals and prepared to make the hour and a half drive to hand-deliver them when one of our Ft. Worth office people, who happened to be in our office that day, generously offered to deliver them for me. Phew.

He called at 1:20 to tell me the proposals were hand-delivered.

Fed Ex sent me an e-mail confirming delivery of the proposals I'd done the night before at 1:30.

Son of a bitch.

But that wasn't the original intent of this post, merely a side story to reiterate how busy I've been as of late.

While I was frantically getting the proposals done, I took a short break to check Gmail. My friend Krissypoo had sent me an e-mail, asking me if I had finished reading the book she sent me for my birthday. Happy to receive an e-mail from her, I replied that I'd read a few pages, and asked how her Valentine's Day trip to Tahoe had been.

She replied a few minutes later and I was skimming her e-mail (I WAS busy, mind you) filled with chatter about the glories of Tahoe, and skimmed over a sentence that ended with "I'm knocked up."

"That's nice," I thought to myself, and went back to finishing up the proposal.

About three seconds later a little light bulb went off over my head and I went, "Wait a minute..." and read the e-mail again. Same sentence.

I immediately replied to the extent of SHUT UP! ARE YOU SERIOUS?? I'M CALLING YOU AS SOON AS I FINISH THIS PROPOSAL!

She was serious.

My very good friend Krissypoo has a bun in the oven. And I couldn't be happier for her.

Congratulations!!

Seriously, though, what IS in the water these days???

Self Love Day!
No, not THAT kind of self love!

I pilfered this from Dawg. Here are the rules!

1.) Grab yourself a banner. If you don’t like the one I’ve used in this post, you can find another one here.
2.) Post that banner and with it tell us all something (or multiple things, like me!) that you really love about yourself (thus, the “self-love” portion of the program).
3.) Ask or beg your readers to post one thing that they too love about you!!! If your blog friends are nice, you shouldn’t have to beg…much.
4.) Enjoy yourself and spread the love by doing this on your blog!
______________________________________________________

I've been kind of blue lately. Not for any particular reason, so it's most likely hormonal. So, I will take today and focus on the good things about me! I hope all of you will give me a bit of a boost as well. :)

How do I love me? Let me count the ways:

1. I love my legs. I should probably wear skirts more, because they're one of the things I really like about my body. Which leads me to my other favorite part:

2. The girls. I must say, I have a rather spectacular set of twins, which sometimes can be put to very good use!

3. I love my nerdiness. It took me a very long time to embrace it, but I wholly accept myself for the medieval-history-loving, Jane Austen fanatic nerd that I am. One of my favorite medieval mystery authors, Margaret Frazer, talked in an interview about complaining that she doesn't have much of a life, and one of her sons said to her, "But you do have a life, Mom, it just happens to take place 600 years ago."

I can totally relate to that.

But enough about me. What do you think of me? :)

Meme-riffic
Stole this from my lovely Poppy earlier this week, and am just now getting around to post it.

I swear there's a dark cloud over my head lately - I am still having that pain from last week and before, went to the gynecologist and my ovaries are fine. My next step is to visit a GI doctor and see what happens there. On top of this, I caught the office cold AND it's that "time of the month." Did I piss someone off or something, and karma's biting me in my ass? Sheesh.

1. If your doctor told you TODAY that you were pregnant, what would you say?
I don't know if I would SAY anything, just look at her in shock, seeing all the problems we've had getting pregnant. Then I'd be ecstatic.

2. Do you trust all of your friends?
By nature, I'm a pretty trusting person, so I'd have to say yes, for the most part.

3. Would you move to another state or country to be with the one you love?
Of course I would! I moved to a different city with DH....

4. Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?
I do.

5. Can you make a dollar in change right now?
Do I have a dollar in change on my person? No, b/c I never carry cash anymore. Can I combine assorted coins to make a dollar? Yes.

6. Which one of your friends do you think would make the best doctor?
God, I have no clue...

7. Are you afraid of falling in love?
Not at all.

9. Is there someone who pops into your mind at random times?
Always.

10. What’s your most favorite scar?
I only have a couple, and my laparascopy scars remind me of not-so-great times, so I'd have to say the one on my forearm from a cat when I was 7. But that wasn't really fun either, so I don't know.

11. When was the last time you flew in a plane?
December

12. What did the last text message you sent say?
I rarely send texts, so I can't remember.

13. What features do you find most attractive in the preferred sex?
Eyes, smile, sense of humor (are we talking physical or mental fetures, here?)

14. Fill in the blank. I love ________.
Fridays.

15. What is a goal you would like to accomplish in the near future?
Figuring out what I want to do with my life. Professionally, of course. I'm very happy otherwise.

16. If you were to wake up from being in a coma for an extended time who would you call?
DH, of course. If he wasn't already at my bedside...

17. How many kids do you want to have?
I'd like to have two or three, but we'll see how that goes...

18. Would you make a good parent?
I hope so.

19. Where was your favorite picture taken?
In New Orleans.

20. What’s your middle name?
My middle name is my grandmother's maiden name.

21. Honestly, what’s on your mind right now?
Wishing I could go home. :)

22. If you could go back in time and change something, what would it be?
Nothing at all, but I might have made more of an effort my last two semesters in college.

23. Who was or will be the maid of honor/best man in your wedding?
Um, that's already happened....

24. What are you wearing right now?
Jeans and a blue pullover.

25. Righty or Lefty?
I'm a righty.

26. Best place to eat?
The Melting Pot (my answer for now....this changes daily)

27. Favorite jeans?
Lane Bryant's Right Fit jeans are so far the best ones I've encountered. Hopefully soon, though, I won't have to buy those anymore!

28. Favorite animal?
Kitteh!

29. Favorite juice?
Pineapple (Poppy's answer preserved.)

30. Have you had the chicken pox?
Yep, right after my brother had them. I was 3 or 4.

31. Have you had a sore throat?
Um, yes?

32. Ever had a bar fight?
No, I'm not much on bars. And I'm non-confrontational,too.

33. Who knows you the best?
Me. And DH.

34. Shoe size?
8

35. Do you wear contact lenses or glasses?
I wear both. Glasses only at home, though, b/c when I was 11, my next-door neighbor called me "fat ugly whale," but tried to be my friend when I got contacts a year later. I have a bit of a complex about that.

36. Ever been in a fight with your pet?
Kino and I are constantly at odds.

I had a coupon for a free coffee at Starbucks....

Does sick of work count?

I miss lots of people daily, but they're in my heart. (Poppy's answer preserved.)

41. Did you get in a fight with someone today?
No, but it's still early yet. :) (I am afraid of confrontation, so I hardly ever get in fights.)

AGES ago...

Are You Watching?
My parents came this weekend to celebrate my birthday. Friday night we had dinner with them and the in-laws, and I got four place settings of the long-coveted Fiestaware in Shamrock (my other two colors are Tangerine and Scarlet) and the latest book in one of my favorite medieval mysteries series.

Mom and I went shopping most of the day yesterday, and after eating cheeseburgers at the local hamburger joint, we watched The Kingdom, and boy was that one intense movie! They left early this morning to go back home, and I ended up sleeping away most of the afternoon because sometimes, being a hostess can be tiring.

This evening DH and I went and got hot wings for the game and are eating those and drinking Blue Moon. He's rooting for the Pats (b/c of Wes Welker) and I'm rooting for the Giants, simply because I have no allegiance to either team. So far my favorite commercial has been the Budweiser one where they ripped off Rocky and had a Dalmatian training one of the Clydesdales.

Any of you have a favorite commercial so far?
